My Background
I practice as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Washington and as an Approved Supervisor for clinicians seeking licensure. I am also a Certified Group Psychotherapist under the auspices of the American Group Psychotherapy Association. I completed my Masters in Counseling Psychology in 1992 from Antioch University, Seattle.
Who I am as a therapist is grounded in who I am as a person.
From an early age, I found myself curious and attuned toward relationships with others. I have always been a searcher and a seeker, drawn toward exploring the natural world and my own inner life, as well as an abiding interest in understanding other people.
In addition to professional experience, I bring to my practice life lived as a father, husband, friend, and a lover of outdoor adventure, some of it pictured on this website. It includes work earlier in life as a geologist, carpenter, and arborist. I also maintain a dedicated meditation practice and am passionately involved in contemporary musical practice and performance.
I am deeply committed to the process of helping my clients get to the core of their personal struggles or to the roots of problems with others. I actively help them to deepen their understanding and effectiveness in relationships and improve their sense of well-being.
